Who’s ready for the weekend? We’re kicking things off early here at FogKnits headquarters! There’s been so much FO’ing this week, that Friday can’t contain it all.
First off the needles this week, a new Hitchhiker.
There are over 29,000 Hitchhikers on Ravelry. That’s a staggering number. Sure, 14 of them are mine. Obviously, I get the fandom with this particular scarf. Still…29,000!! That’s incredible! Imagine how big that pile would be!! Wow!
This particular Hitchhiker is special because it’s striped…
…and I only had to weave in two ends!?! Seriouesleeeeeeeee! Love that! This is another self striping skein of shawl yarn from Gauge Dye Works. And it’s a Merino-Cashmere-Nylon (MCN) blend. It’s so soft. I just want to put my face on it and take a nap.
I don’t usually go for yellow. Actually, I never go for yellow. I hate yellow. If I had an arch nemesis, it would definitely be yellow. I didn’t pick this yarn. It came to me in a swap. I reluctantly accepted it’s yellowness. I begrudgingly knit it, only because I was unable to re-trade it for a better color.
So, of course, despite all my protests, it turns out, this Hitchhiker is just exactly what my wardrobe needs. Stupid yellow.
It’s perfect for pretty much every outfit I own. Every one. A zing of yellow really peps up my sea of blues and greens so I’m giving it a try. We’ll see how it goes. I may be won over. I mean, At least it’s not pink!

Yellow isn’t a favorite of mine either but it’s just perfect with the grays. It’s just what that Hitchhiker needed to get it out of “just another hitchhiker” mode. Love it!

lol Two of those 29000 are mine, and I have another one in mind for someday. I love that gauge and yarn weight do not matter one whit.
Yours is very striking – like you, I don’t care for yellow – or orange or most browns or army green. I guess I am not an earth girl. I love the watery blues and greens the most, and do fine with pink and purple in moderation. But yellow is bright and cheery and looks fab with a nice gray, doesn’t it? Yours really pops!

That pattern is in my queue and has been for the longest darn time. I actually bought the trilogy of the shawls and did finish Trillian. I love the yellow! Isn’t it funny how we think we don’t like a color and then we find it goes awesome with everything? Love it!

Lol I avoid yellow too! I honestly would probably attempt to find a way to wear the shawl that the yellow wouldn’t show 🤣

After all that about how much I didn’t hate it, I have found myself trying to minimize the appearance of the yellow bits. This may end up in the gift pile after all!

Sadly, that’s in the photo only…it’s as yellow as yellow gets. I liked making it, so I won’t feel too bad when it finds another home :)

I don’t much like yellow either, but somehow it’s just perfect for this! The magical properties of grey perhaps?
