I’ve got nothing to wear.

I’ve got nothing to wear…at least that’s how it feels.  Ten projects on the needles and I don’t want to knit a single one of them.  UGH!  I did a row on probably 5 of those projects yesterday.  It was dreadful.  I didn’t want to do any of them.  Sheer torture.

Running out of yarn for the project I did want to work on, probably killed some of my motivation.  I ran to the shop it came from to see if I could get more…no luck!  I’ve got a few messages out on Ravelry, so there is hope!  I found dye lot matches even!  Not all is lost, there is hope, chin up and all that.

I couldn’t even get through a full row of my Rhinebeck sweater.  The cat decided to climb out the window when I was 4 stitches from the end of row.  I should consider myself lucky I didn’t drop any stitches as I flung the project down, ran out the front door, tripping over the yarn, to reclaim the cat.  We live on a busy street with three lanes of traffic in one direction and timed lights.  It’s no place for a lazy, old cat.  It’s as near to a freeway as a city street can be.  In the meantime, those four stitches are still sitting, untouched and ready to be worked.  I gave up.  9:15, I called it a day and went to bed.   harumph!

Today, I plan on getting back into the groove.  It can’t possibly be worse than yesterday.  I’ll start slow and ease into things with some work on a hat, then maybe a few Rhinebeck rows and then if I’m feeling it, I’d love to knock that lace out!  Big plans, indeed!

Here’s a link for those interested in Stitch n Pitch!  There are quite a few minor league events still on the schedule for this year!  That’s so great to see!  They’ve also got a section on planning your own local event and submitting it to them for the calendar!  Play Ball!

  1. The more WIPs I have, the less I want to knit. I don’t know if it’s having too many options, or just being overwhelmed, or being too busy saying “what the hell was I thinking?”, but I can’t have more than 2 or 3 things in progress. I hope today is kinder to you than yesterday was!

    1. Thanks! I think part of the frustration is none of these projects is great for on the go knitting and I’ve been on the go a lot lately…I’m gonna go big and take the lace project for some public knitting time today! At least if it goes miserably wrong, I won’t complain about yesterday anymore….bwhahahahah!

  2. Man I HATE those days when the knitting mojo disappears! Most of the time I have about ten wips and have to ration myself to a half hour each or something because I want to work on them all….mega excited!!!…..then out of nowhere…nothing. Can’t even look at them. Fortunately a rare occurrence, as I’m guessing yours is too! Hope it passes quickly :) good luck with the public lace knitting!

    1. I think the change of scenery was just the thing! I really got into a groove…I didn’t even need to consult the pattern! (Only took 75 repeats but I finally got it!)

It’s still early to say it’ll be FO’d on Friday, but I’m cautiously optimistic!

  3. I know this feeling very well, I think you did the right thing though, trying various ones to see if you got your mojo back and when that didnt work, having a break. I sometimes find that looking through my yarn stash inspires me and I’ll start something and then stick with it, or challenging myself also works – pick one WIP, perhaps the one you are closest to finishing or the one you started longest ago, knit as much as you can in one day and then the next day try to knit more than you did the previous day and so on. At the end of each day I measure and hten put a little marker at the end of the last row I did, and then write down how many inches I did and then try to beat that the next day. For some reason, this really helps me when I have a project that seems to be taking forever, and helps me to feel like I’m making progress. Hope that helps you too!

    1. I’ve pretty much always got 10 projects on the go, so I’m used to seeing progress develop slowly. Luckily, my issues do seem to be just a hiccup! I was back to my dreaded lace project with very little dread…I’m even motivated to finish it today! Time to find out just how ambitious I am today! LOL!

  4. I don’t know if you’re ever on my side of the bay, but Piedmont Yarns is having UFO themed knit nights on Wednesdays and Fridays. Granted, I haven’t made it over there yet, but it seems like a good way to get motivated. Maybe other shops are doing something similar? I’ll check the link for the Stitch&Pitch, I’ll probably end up really wrapped up in the game but it still sounds fun :)

    1. You’d think the Bay Bridge was an impermeable barrier based on the rate I cross the bridge. LOL! Mostly, I think the return of the fog and the cooler temps has helped me. I’m way less whiny today :)
